The ratio in the CFL is a truly unique - and sometimes headache-inducing - model of proportional roster shuffling, and sometimes, especially in times of widespread injury, it hamstrings head coaches and forces them to juggle their lineups. With Canadian offensive linemen Steve Morley, Marc Parenteau, and Paul Swiston, along with American imports Shannon Boatman and Andre Douglas all out due to injury, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers will start three imports on the offensive front against the B.C. Lions. "Its a little bit peculiar, but you know what, its not completely unheard of," said seven-year veteran tackle Glenn January, whose return from a one-week ankle ailment is a welcome reprieve. "I know that the year before I got to Toronto, they did it. I know that Edmonton has done it this year. Theyve played American guards in Montreal. So if the injury bug starts to bite you, youre going to have to make some moves." Because of that bug, the club is now forced to start three Canadian receivers - namely Akeem Foster, Rory Kohlert, and Jade Etienne - or line up Canadians Carl Vony at running back or Michel-Pierre Pontbriand at fullback. On the depth chart, Terrence Edwards is listed as a backup behind Etienne. "Right now, were pretty devastated by injury. Weve got a lot of guys who are a couple games away from coming back," added January. "Hopefully, we can get Steve Morley back on the field here soon, but you kind of have to play the hand youre dealt and right now, thats what were looking at. Youve got a couple of good, young, talented Americans that have come in here and picked up the game fairly quickly. So itll be interesting to see if were able to go out there and establish the line of scrimmage like we hope we are going to be able to." The team signed American offensive tackles Dan Knapp and Jarvis Jones and started them last week following just two days of practice. This week, Jones moves from right to left tackle, while Knapp moves inside to right guard. "Weve struggled on the offensive line this year," said head coach Tim Burke. "Were continually trying to upgrade and I think that upgrades us both in the run game and in the pass protection part of the game. We were happy with the way the two new guys played last week, and then obviously Glenn (January) is a stalwart journeyman kind of guy." On the defensive side of the ball, the team has elected to start veteran corner Jovon Johnson at safety for the struggling Cauchy Muamba again, forcing the team to juggle the lineup to appease the league-mandated ratio. "By putting Jovon Johnson at safety, a position that was played by a Canadian (Cauchy Muamba) before, you need to put one more Canadian somewhere else," said Pierre-Luc Labbe, who makes his first official start of the season this week. "So Im the lucky one who goes to middle linebacker and theyll put Henoc (Muamba) at (weak side linebacker)." "I played a lot last week," added the Quebec-native Labbe. "It was already planned like this, to put me in on first down most of the time, and on second and short, too. Ive been lucky enough to get a lot of playing time last week." Labbe may prove to be a welcome veteran presence on one of the youngest units in the league. "Im the oldest player on defence here at 29," added Labbe. "That is what coach (Casey) Creehan has been focusing on this week; we had a lot of positives in the last game, even if we lost in overtime, I think the first four quarters were solid. We had chances to just finish and close that game and get away with a win, and we just didnt capitalize. So I think we lost that game more than they won it." Notes: Linebacker/defensive back Johnny Sears, who has been on the nine-game injured list with a foot ailment "should be ready next week" according to Burke. Sears lined up at strong side linebacker and halfback in practice this week... Slotback Cory Watson has been kept out of the lineup with a hamstring injury. Burke says "I think hell be ready next week as well."... Running back Chad Simpson (foot) saw doctors again this week, but his participation in practice has been wildly inconsistent... O-lineman Andre Douglas, who remains on the nine-game with a leg injury, practiced fully this week. There is no timetable for his return... O-linemen Marc Parenteau (neck) and Shannon Boatman (multiple injuries) have been placed on the nine-game injured list... Canadian O-lineman Tyson Pencer, who made his first two professional starts in the back-to-backs against Edmonton, will be a likely scratch this week. Burke said he is "still not ready for prime time." When asked if the 2012 third-overall draft pick should be ready by now, Burke simply answered, "yes." Deebo Samuel Jersey . The stress, the waiting, the whispers about whether he doped during his stellar cycling career, all of it ended when - after nearly two years - federal prosecutors closed an investigation of him last week without bringing any charges. Tom Rathman 49ers Jersey . Los Angeles announced its new deal for Kupchak late in the fourth quarter of a 145-130 loss to the Houston Rockets. Kupchak had one year left on his current contract. http://www.thesf49ersshoponline.com/Yout...n-49ers-Jersey/. -- Chad Labelle scored the winner 17:36 into the third period to give Medicine Hat a 2-1 victory over the Swift Current Broncos on Sunday and lift the Tigers into the second round of the Western Hockey League playoffs. Dee Ford 49ers Jersey . Boston is making its first appearance in the ALCS since 2008. For Detroit, its a third straight trip to the ALCS and its fourth in eight years. Colin Kaepernick Womens Jersey .com) - Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price is set to return Tuesday against Nashville after sitting out the past two games because of a minor upper body injury. DETROIT -- The NHL-leading Boston Bruins followed their game plan of keeping Gustav Nyquist in front of them for more than two periods. When the puck got loose, and Nyquist got to it, though, one of the games best defenceman and goalies couldnt stop the surging goal-scorer. Nyquist broke a tie with 7:12 left in the third period on his only shot of the game, and the Detroit Red Wings held on to beat Boston 3-2 on Wednesday night. "I didnt think Gus had one of his best games by any means, but he scored a big goal," Detroit coach Mike Babcock said. Nyquist has a league-high 23 goals since Jan. 20 and a team-high 27 this season. He has given the Red Wings the breakout player they needed to boost their chances of extending their post-season streak to 23 seasons while missing many key players, including Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg. The 24-year-old Swede started the season with the AHLs Grand Rapids Griffins after scoring a total of four goals in 40 games the previous two seasons. "Thats one of the young players that has come in here, and given the chance to be a front guy has taken total of advantage of it," Boston coach Claude Julien said. "Those things probably dont happen if Datsyuk and Zetterberg are still in the lineup. "When things like that happen, some guys are really good at stepping to the forefront. Hes done an unbelievable job of doing that." The Bruins turned the puck over near Detroits blue line, paving the way for Nyquist to score. He raced up ice, skated around defenceman Zdeno Chara and ended his blurring sequence by scoring against Tuukka Rask. "I think (Chara) came off the bench so it was tough for him to get enough time to gap up, got kind of flat-footed," Nyquist said. "I just tried to use my speed." He has done that a lot lately, scoring in three straight games and having at least one point in 10 games in a row. Nyquist scored 1:42 after teammate Tomas Jurco tied the game. Jimmy Howard finished with 33 saves to seal the win, strengthening Detroits spot as a wild-card team in the Eastern Conference with six games left. "Howie kept us in the game and gave us a chance," defenceman Niklas Kronwall said. "We didnt play great, but we found a way." The Atlantic Division-champion Bruins have been doing that for a while, winning a franchise-record nine straight on the road and earning at least a point in their previous 16 games.dddddddddddd Boston led the Red Wings twice, but couldnt put away the young, scrappy and short-handed team. "Theyve got really good speed," Rask said. "We did a pretty good job of shutting them down, but not good enough." Rask made 17 saves before being pulled for an extra skater with 1:14 left. Detroits Tomas Tatar scored early in the second period to tie the game the Bruins were basically dominating. Tatar used his left skate to push the puck across the front of the crease to set up Jurcos goal. The Bruins held out 36-year-old forward Jarome Iginla because of a lower-body injury, and the team said he is day to day. Iginla played in Bostons first 75 games this season, leading the team with 30 goals and ranking second with 61 points. The defending Eastern Conference champions outshot Detroit 11-4 in the first period and 14-7 in the second before seemingly playing less aggressively in the third when they went ahead. "I thought we let our guard down the second part of the third and they capitalized on it," Julien said. Johnny Boychuks slap shot put the Bruins up 1-0 late in the first, and Carl Soderberg gave them a 2-1 lead early in the third. Boychuk scored shortly after an apparent Boston goal was waved off because Chara was in the crease. Tatar tied it 4:45 into the second with a wrist shot from the right circle that went across traffic and got past Rask as his view was obstructed by Detroits Riley Sheahan. Tatar, another one of many young players who has made the most of an opportunity to play a lot for the banged-up team, has 19 goals after scoring five times in 27 games the previous two seasons. The Bruins went back ahead 1:10 into the third when Soderberg scored from the left circle off a cross-ice pass from Patrice Bergeron. Detroit, though, refused to go away and rallied for a much-needed win. NOTES: The Bruins hadnt lost in regulation since March 1 in a 4-2 loss to Washington. ... The Red Wings kept forward Daniel Alfredsson out of the lineup because of a lower-body injury. ... Datsyuk skated with teammates Wednesday morning, but missed his 16th straight game because of an injured left knee. Datsyuk wouldnt say if he expected to play Friday at home against Buffalo. ... Bergeron extended his point streak to nine games. ' ' '
